Reading Week

Feb. 20th, 2006 | 03:27 pm
music: Use Me To Use You-Trapt

So, it's actually reading week now... which theoretically means a week of rest and relaxation... not that it ever happens, but there you have it. This time around seems like no exception, despite having no schoolwork. Working overtime this week to catch up on some deadlines that I would otherwise miss.
I only actually work 22.5 hrs a week, but I'm given enough work for two people to handle... a stark contrast to my coop term where I was doing enough work for a part-timer of 15 hrs but was working 37.5. As much work as it is, I thoroughly enjoy it... the stress is oddly invogorating, despite the frustration that can sometimes set in. Only 4 more days this week!

I got raped by my OT midterm. Unhappy. I have way too much work to do this weekend. Even more unhappy. *Gets to it*

Booo

Feb. 6th, 2006 | 10:40 pm

So...received two case studies back today... terrible marks... luckily I wasn't the only one, although that's only a small consolation prize. Sitting with yet another B- in my concentration courses... rather irritating. Did get an A+ for Marketing Research earlier in the morning though, so I suppose I'm not a complete moron. End note: School sucks.

So... tomorrow will see me submitting two assignments, neither of which I have completed... Methinks it's going to be a long night... No excuse though... I was just lazy.

4 classes

Jan. 25th, 2006 | 10:37 pm

So I figure that after three weeks of complete ignorance during my Simulations class, an assignment due next week that I can't complete because I'm oblivious to the solution for several sections, and a midterm on things I really don't understand... it's time to drop.

Now don't get me wrong. I vowed to myself I'd never drop a university course. I dropped one course in high school (turned out to be a good thing) and said that was it. But when it comes down to it... an elective I don't -need- for my graduation, that I will most likely fail, and at the most optimistic obtain a D... is not something I want on my official transcript. And so I have clickety-clicked on Carleton Central's 'Submit Changes' button and removed the heinous time frame from my schedule. Thus I am dubbed quitter, but I take it in stride. My transcript will thank me in the end, I know.

So, the return to school has been a fairly unpleasant experience so far. Sure, the tunnels are stalked by some of the most amazing looking ladies I've never spoken to, and yeah, finally getting back to talking with friends I've said fewer than 50 words to in 8 months... but really, when you compare all this with the copious amounts of work I'm being forced to perform... really, people wonder why dogs look at us funny when we ask them to do tricks? I completely understand, puppy.

On another note, it is now just after 7 am and I heading to school... so no...not another note. This is another school complaint. I can't get up to get free coffee whenever I want here. I really want to be in the office if I'm going to be up this early... because.. yeah... coffee breaks... whenever I want... and no class... and I can fall asleep at my desk and not get caught... zzzZZzZZzzz....

Not much happened so far today, so maybe we'll have a thicker entry for later. Day was mostly comprised of twiddling my thumbs at work since the program I require is still broken... for me :D

Hooked on comedic podcasts now. Most of the ones in the directory are garbage, but some of them are pretty good. Three in particular have stood out so far.
Comedy365: http://www.comedy365.co.uk/ Should definitely check it out. "Celebrity" interviews, amusing conversations and topics of discussion.
::switched on:: http://www.switchedonshow.com/ Also some funny stuff. 3 guys talking about random crap that usually comes out pretty funny.
Anarchy-X http://anarchyx.us/ These two dudes are Hilarious. Capital H.

Never. Ever. Again.

mood: drunk drunk

Well, this Halloween has definitely been an experience to hopefully forget... Drank far too much alcohol, let people play with my phone too much (13 calls to the same person... honestly, is that really necessary?), wrecked a party, left Chris behind and had to go back for him... definitely not an experience I'd like to repeat.

Government programs

Oct. 28th, 2005 | 04:00 pm
music: The Night Will Go As Follows - The Spill Canvas

Government publishing programs - for the internet - really need better documentation and friendlier user capabilities. When one document looks exactly like another (with different content, of course), yet only one of them spits out an error (two errors, of course), we have issues. Or rather, I have issues. Because I don't know how to fix them. Not only that, even if I did, I couldn't fix them, because I they have to do with database properties and databases can only be altered (in terms of properties) by the tech. department. In otherwords, since my tech. boss wasn't around today, and I'd finished all my other work for the week... I did jack all today. Again.

Part 4

Oct. 27th, 2005 | 05:01 pm

Lord of the Shadows

Walk Slowly Now
Walk slowly now into the shadow lands
They'll be there holding hands (holding hands)
You'll think you see them but they disappear
All an illusion conjured by your fear

shadow
The Lord of the Shadows claims it as his domain
To torture and tempt with pleasure and pain
See them again and he whispers to her:
"Your life is forfeit little sister."
And he turns (turns, turns) and he looks at you
Snaps his fingers and your mind comes unglued
Maniacal laughter then ensues
It seems so real all around you
It's all fucked up;
You've never seen something so crazy
The fog all around makes your vision hazy
The Lord of the Shadows never tires of this game
You'll never escape 'cause he's stolen your name
And he turns (turns, turns) and he looks at you
Snaps his fingers and your mind comes unglued
Maniacal laughter then ensues
It seems so real all around you
Walk slowly now
Walk slowly now into the shadow lands
They'll be there holding hands
The Lord of the Shadows never tires of this game
You'll never escape 'cause he's stolen your name

The Lord of the Shadows....
Shadows...
Shadows...
Shadow...

Funny...but painful

Oct. 27th, 2005 | 04:15 pm
mood: drained drained
music: For A Little While

I work for the government. Right there you know enough to tell that I'm probably very lazy. Nonethless, that is irrelevant to this case. Now, at my work, we have what they like to call a Charitable Campaign... that's straightforward.

Today's event was an Idol competition. That's right... people who can't sing, doing so for charity. It was fun... some of us actually weren't terrible... and then there's the William Hung of our government... who can't sing, and most certainly can't dance. It was entertaining.. but it was very, very painful to watch.
The moral of this story is: If you can't sing, and you can't dance, please don't.

mood: pensive pensive
music: What I Want To Be Remembered For

Blackened Tears is the tentative title for my newest novel project. This one will get finished.
I'm currently taking character suggestions. General feel will be high fantasy. I currently have one editor, but would love to have a second. If you're interested, leave a comment or send an email if you have it.

Monkies take over public transport - stops are optional

Oct. 26th, 2005 | 04:35 pm
mood: cranky cranky
music: The Night That Patty Murphy Died

So APPARENTLY our public transport system is being manned by an irate group of nefarious apes, lacking the distinctly important ability to see, hear, and otherwise function with normal members of society.
At least this seems to be the case for the afternoon buses. In the morning, things are wonderful. Apart from the incredibly irritating and seemingly neverending rain that graces my oh so wonderful umbrella.
Nevertheless, I am fine. Well, I'm not really. I'm cranky. I mean honestly... who passes by the stop an old lady requests? Forget for a second that it just so happened to also be my stop... this elderly woman was forced to cross four lanes of busy traffic because our primate of a bus driver decided not to open the doors at our stop. Well it makes me angry goddamnit!!!!
